I went over to Vietnam with the 2/4FA, 9th Infantry Division in January 
1967, and was reassigned to B Battery, 7/8FA in September 1967 as Fire 
Direction Officer, and participated in the first airlift of heavy 
artillery in Vietnam that you reference on your web site. 

Then in October 1967, I replaced Lt. McCarty as XO of C Battery after 
Lt. McCarty was killed in a mortar attack at Ben Luc. I left the 7/8FA 
in January 1968 when I returned to the States.
